Eric grew up in Indiana, pursuing his academic life in five states including Wisconsin, Florida, Pennsylvania, and now Utah. Eric fortuitously fell into the lap of the ancient world, and became enraptured by ancient Greek and Latin, a passion he never could have predicted as a young person. This opened the door to studying abroad briefly during his undergraduate career, but more fully during the summer months of 2006 and the academic year of 2008-09, when he attended an archaeological program at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.

Eric was smitten with the classics and wanted to explore them the fullest, leading him to seek out a Master's degree from Florida State University and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduate school, Eric taught out east at the Hill School before accepting a visiting professorship in Classics at Brigham Young, followed by a position at the University of Utah.

Eric has always felt committed to a life of learning, which led him to his role here at Judge Memorial, teaching Algebra, German, and helping with the Lourdes Middle School Academy Fine Arts program.

Eric has a daughter who is currently a college student, and when she is in Salt Lake City, he devotes his time to her. Otherwise, Eric likes to help others, read literature, translate ancient Greek with companions, tutor students in Latin, take modern Greek lessons with the Greek Orthodox Church, walk dogs, and hike and camp in Utah's amazing deserts.
