EDUCATION

• B.A. in Economics, Princeton University
• M.A. in Teaching, Westminster College

Originally hailing from New Hampshire and having attended St. Paul’s School and Princeton University, Tyler is delighted to work in a community that so values individuals for their unique talents and applying those skills to build a more just society.

Tyler’s path to Judge is unique in that he graduated Princeton in 2003 with a BA in Economics with minors in Finance and German. His senior thesis, a requirement of every Princeton graduate, was entitled: “Super Commercials: An Analysis of Super Bowl Advertisements in an Investor Relations Framework.” The basic gist of the thesis was determining if there was any financial payoff for companies to buy the expensive advertising time (tldr: there wasn’t).

Tyler’s first job out of college was working for an option trading group on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for Goldman Sachs. After Goldman, Tyler worked five years as an equities, commodities, and currency trader at Wexford Capital, a multi-strategy hedge fund in Greenwich, CT. In 2009, with Tyler’s wife, Lu Lu, in her last year of medical school and a move to Utah pending for her pediatrics residency the following year, Tyler chose to leave finance and seek greater fulfillment from his employment through a career in education. Tyler has taught at a number of independent schools including: the New Canaan Country School, Rowland Hall, McGillis, and the last 10 years at Waterford. Tyler has taught math from the 4th grade level all the way through calculus.

Tyler has two sons, Bode and Nash, that keep him well occupied when he is away from school, but still finds time to enjoy the variety of Utah’s landscapes through skiing as much as possible, camping, and trail running. Other hobbies include bread making, knitting (seriously), reading, and hanging with his dog (Maybird).
